How To Get Gems In Monster Legends
I am a firm believer in the slow and steady method of playing Monster Legends. I know it is tempting to use up all your resources fast, but trust me, patience will pay off with this game. Getting rich is relatively simple in Monster Legends, and here is how.
First, organize all your habitats by elements and place all four corresponding elemental boosts in the middle of these habitats. Second, equip monsters that you do not use within a week with multiple gold runes. Third, buy as many farms as possible, fully upgrade them, and harvest food daily; without spending all your gold. Fourth, only feed your monsters the required amount for the daily feeding goal; save your other food. Finally, only spend gems on things that are most beneficial to you. Finally, overall do things without spending all your resources at once; never let yourself go broke.
Save up your resources and only use them when it is most beneficial to you. Doing this will make you a much stronger player in the long run. I recommend you buy things at a steady pace, grow your profile. Just do not go broke with any resource because it will only get harder to save up the longer you play. It's harder to save once you get to the higher levels because everything costs more.
What are elemental boosts in Monster Legends?
Elemental boosts are buildings found in your shop that increase the amount of gold output monsters have when placed by monsters that are the same element as the boost itself.
There are nine types of elemental boosts; fire, nature, earth, thunder, water, dark, magic, light, and metal. You can buy up to four elemental boosts of each element, a total of 36 elemental boosts. There are no boosts specifically for legendary and mythic, only for the main elements.
Each boost reaches eight units away in a circle and increases gold output by 10%.
To make sure boosts are correctly affecting the monsters, first, click on the monster's habitat. Then look at their picture that comes up at the bottom of your screen to see a green percentage; whatever that green number is, 10%,20%,30%, or 40% is the increased gold production amount. If there is no green percentage number, then the boost is not touching the monster's habitat.
I recommend placing elemental boosts as close to the middle of your island while leaving room for as many habitats as possible. Also, paying attention to the natural gold output of each monster and place the ones with the highest output closest to the elemental boosts.
Elemental Boosts Chart
Elemental Boosts | Level required | Cost | Build time |
Fire boost | 20 | 1,000,000 gold | One day |
Nature boost | 24 | 1,500,000 gold | One day and 12 hours |
Earth boost | 28 | 2,000,000 gold | Two days |
Thunder boost | 32 | 2,750,000 gold | Two days and 12 hours |
Water boost | 36 | 3,500,000 gold | Three days |
Dark boost | 40 | 4,000,000 gold | Three days and 12 hours |
Magic boost | 44 | 4,500,000 gold | Four days |
Light boost | 46 | 5,000,000 gold | One day and 4 hours |
Metal boost | 48 | 5,500,000 gold | 12 hours |
Organizing your habitats
When I say organize your monsters and habitats by elements, I mean placing monsters with the fire element in fire habitats and, what I do, is making one island your fire island and so forth with all other elements.
I know several monsters have multiple elements, so just pick one. Monsters with two elements can belong to either island. Doing this will increase these monsters' amount of gold production when elemental boosts are placed correctly, as talked about above.
For the best ways to organize habitats see my island layout article.
Gold Runes
Equip runes by first clicking a monster. Then click the yellow equip button. That will take you to a new page where you can then click the yellow add rune button. From there, it will offer you all your current runes. Next, click the type tab and select the yellow rectangle; this will only show you your gold runes. Finally, click on the gold rune that you would like to use and press confirm.
Only equip monsters whom you do not typically use in a week with gold runes. These monsters can include the monsters you do not use in any dungeons, player verse player, and team wars.
Make sure to look at which monsters naturally have the highest gold output and equip them first.
I do not recommend placing high-level gold runes on the lower-class monsters. You will want those high-level runes on legendary monsters. Do not waste resources by equipping high-level runes to lower-class monsters that you will ultimately put into your monster vault. Because once they go into your vault, they will not be able to produce gold, and it will cost you other resources, even gems, to remove the gold runes from them.
Equip lower-class monsters with level 1-3 gold runes. I recommend equipping epics and higher-class monsters with level 4 or higher gold runes.
There are two types of gold runes. One is the individual gold rune, this type of rune will only increase the gold production of the monster it is equipped to. The second is the team gold rune; these runes will increase the gold production of the monster it is equipped to plus other monsters to whom the equipped monster shares a habitat.
Gold Rune Level Chart

Level 1 individual and team | Individual 6% and team 2% |

What is the fastest way to get food in Monster Legends?
Get food fast by buying and upgrading farms, harvesting often, and saving food whenever possible. Also, focus on upgrading Faunus.
Every day, even there are several times that are more ideal than others to use food; only use the resource when it is most beneficial to you. So pay attention to these times: your daily goals, a growth spurt event, monster challenges, and mazes.
I recommend only feeding your monsters enough food to complete your daily feeding goal, save the rest for events.
Faunus, the Guardian of Farming
Faunus, the Guardian of Farming, can increase your amount of food output. Faunus is located on the far right side of your main island; he looks like a turtle. Of course, Faunus will only increase your food output when activated for 26.4 million gold each time. Faunus can only be upgraded by completing specific tasks.
- Paying him gold
- Paying him food
- Paying him runes
- Completing nodes on the adventure map
- Winning multiplayer battles

What is the best food to grow in Monster Legends?
The best food to grow in monster legends is black lotus root because it has the most food for the price. Just remember to keep things at a steady pace.
How to get gems in Monster Legends?
First, do as many tasks and surveys as possible. Second, complete things in the following free gem sources charts.
Gems are the premium currency in Monster Legends. There are many things that you can spend gems on. In my personal opinion, start with unlocking all the hatchery slots and buying the breeding tree. I recommend doing this because those are the best tools to grow your profile that require spending gems.
Task and survey information
Tasks and surveys are a great way to gain free gems and an excellent way to try out other games and get rewarded whether you like them or not. Tasks and surveys are found in monsterwood.
I have found that most games under the tasks are legit, but most of the other tasks like the nongame ones do not payout. Every single survey under surveys is legit.
If you are doing a task for gems, I recommend starting it on a weekend because tasks offer 2x the normal reward amount on weekends. Do surveys on the weekdays because they give out 1.5x the normal rewards these days.
.Hint; when scrolling in tasks, they try to get you to do the top ones by making it seem like you can not continue scrolling. If you scroll up and back down several times, it will give you more task options.
If you are on a team with discord, I recommend making a channel that players can post screenshots of which tasks they complete and get rewarded to let others know which tasks are legit. See my team's article for more information about discord.
Free Gem Sources Charts
Basic Free Gem Sources Chart
Source | Frequency | Difficulty | Daily Gems | Monthly Gems | Notes |
Daily Goals | Daily | Easy | 4 | 112 | This is based on the short months; months with more days will result in more gems. You will only get the 4 daily gems by completing all daily tasks within 24 hours. |
Calendar | Monthly | Easy | 0-2 | 7 | There are only certain days of the calendar that have a gem reward. When collecting your reward, it will sometimes offer players a chance to double that day's reward by watching a short video. So make sure to do that if they offer it on a gem day. |
Legend pass | Monthly | Easy | 5 | 5 | Players receive rewards by completing specific tasks, which can be found under the challenges tab. Players will have a month to complete these tasks to receive their rewards. |
Gold legend pass | Monthly | Easy | 300 | 300 | The gold legend pass costs money. Players receive rewards by completing specific tasks, which can be found under the challenges tab. Players will have a month to complete these tasks to receive their rewards. |
Roulette wheel and Videos | Daily | Easy | 0-300 gems Depending on how lucky the player is | 0-9,000 gems Depending on how lucky the player is | Please, do not get your hopes up about getting anywhere close to the number of gems listed. I just put the 9k to cover all possibilities. There is a possibility of getting gems from videos, but honestly, I would consider a player extremely lucky to get 100 gems a month for these. Players must watch 5 videos for the first wheel spin, 15 videos for the second spin, 30 for the third spin. |
Achievements | At one's own speed | Easy-hard | 20 gems per achievement | Depending on how quickly players complete them | These achievements require doing a certain number of essential tasks within the game. Also, keep in mind that some achievements do not offer gems as rewards. |
Books | At one's own speed | Easy | 20 per book | Depending on how quickly players complete them | Certain books give out gems for completing them; not all books do, though. |
Dungeons Free Gem Sources Chart
Keep in mind that these sources are constantly changing. Also that these sources difficulty depends on the level of your monsters because of possible restrictions on which monsters you can use in said dungeons

Legendary gem dungeons | Weekly | Hard | 41 | 164 | These will have significant restrictions such as rarity and elements. This dungeon occurs every Wednesday through Thursday |
Era Sage dungeons | Releases two a month | Easy-Hard | 90-92 | 180-184 | The difficulty and amount of gem rewards depends on your ability to beat the required nodes. Keep in mind the gem rewards for these dungeons expire 28 days after they are released. |
Timed Challenges Free Gem Source Chart
When I put 0 under the monthly gem column that means there is no gem reward associated unless you place high on the leaderboard.

Love Season | Every two weeks | Easy | 0 | 0 | 25-400 (depending on your ability to place high on the leaderboard) | Breed as often as possible; if your breeding combinations result in a higher class monster, you will receive more points.
